Alongside the research and innovation we accomplish every year, our team strives to educate about synthetic biology. We hope to expose more curious minds to this expanding field.

As part of the McMaster Student Union, we take pride in the opportunities we provide to students to do self-directed research.

Our passion lies in collaborative efforts to problem-solve through synthetic biology and genetic engineering.

Supervised by Dr. Todd Hoare (School of Biomedical Engineering), previously by Dr. Zeinab Hosseinidoust.

Based in the Biointerfaces Institute, a core research facility at McMaster University.

Our Projects

McMaster SynBio competes in the annual International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. Each year, we identify a pressing global issue and develop an innovative solution using synthetic biology.

Explore our past projects and see how student-driven research is pushing boundaries in healthcare, sustainability, and more.
